Last year, City Church started a reading group that meets from time to time. Each month (or so), we pick a book to read together and process the book within a community discussion.

It’s simple. We announce the book. You order and read it. We will organize a meet-up and / or podcast towards the end of the month.

A few things to note:

  1. We are hoping for a variety of genres and perspectives. Some we will agree with. Others, we won’t. It is our hope that we can foster charitable and respectful dissuasion with ideas and others from differing viewpoints.

  2. Even if you don’t get through the book, you are welcome to join in the discussion. Just be warned that we may spoil the ending.

  3. You are welcome to jump in and out of the reading group throughout year. However, be open to surprise. A book might not initially attract you, but you might be better for it.

  4. The group is open to everyone, not jus those within our church community. Feel free to invite anyone you think would have interest.

  5. Keep checking back to this webpage for details on our monthly meet-up.

Warning: This book will make you feel uncomfortable and that is the point. However, the discussion itself is vital for the church to move forward when it comes to issues related to racism.
